This book is a tribute to my late husband, Gary Poland, who passed away on September 19, 2008.
 
When we were told he had just 3 to 6 months to live, Gary said one thing:
He wanted to make a difference before he died.
So, I created a blog for us—on MySpace, back when that was the place to connect. Sometimes he would speak, and I would type. Other times, I would write myself as his fulltime caretaker.
 
Together, we shared his journey of dying from cancer, but more than that—we shared thoughts on love, acceptance, forgiveness, and the raw, honest emotions that come with facing the end.
That blog reached over 40,000 people. Back then, that was a lot! 
We received an overwhelming outpouring of love from complete strangers. Hundreds of emails. Visitors at our door bringing food, home made prayer blankets, and hugs.

People simply wanted to meet him, to feel the love they had read online.
 
It was powerful. It was moving. It was absolutely AMAZING!!
 
Before Gary passed, I made him a promise:
I would take those blog entries and turn them into a book. His story.
Our story.
A story about TRUE love.
That book became Prince Gary.
 
Now, in 2025, I still get messages from people who tell me his story changed their life. And every time, it fills my heart with gratitude. It’s so beautiful to hear. So I keep his memory alive. I keep this book alive. And I keep sharing our message of love, because none of us know when we might hear the words:

“You have 3 to 6 months to live.”
 
My hope is that this story touches your life the way it has touched so many others.

Hug harder.
Touch softer.

Forgive faster.
